EVA and PVC are both a kind of plastic, they make products in our life is very common, and very often, these two materials are also able to replace each other, so many people can not tell the difference between them, so today to briefly introduce EVA, PVC is what material, EVA and PVC which is good.
EVA properties
EVA’s chemical name is ethylene – vinyl acetate copolymer, is a polymer, its molecular formula is (C2H4)x.(C4H6O2)y, has flammability, after burning will produce carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide. It has good ageing resistance, water resistance, ozone resistance and chemical stability.EVA has the following characteristics.
1、Anti-vibration: It has rebound and high resistance to tension, good toughness, so it is a very good anti-vibration and cushioning material.
2, water-resistant sound insulation: it is a closed bubble structure, will not absorb water, moisture-proof effect, sound insulation is also very good.
3, thermal insulation: bubble structure so that EVA also has a very good heat insulation and thermal insulation properties.
4, easy processing: EVA no fixed joints, hot pressing, cutting, laminating processing is relatively easy.
5, corrosion resistance: EVA itself antibacterial, non-toxic and tasteless, there is no pollution, there is good resistance to acid and alkali corrosion performance.
Applications: EVA material can be made into shoe materials, film, wire and cable, toys, hot melt adhesives, EVA emulsion and other products.
Properties of PVC
The chemical name ofPVCis polyvinyl chloride, it is a white powder with an amorphous structure and is somewhat less stable to light and heat. If it is often exposed to the sun, or if it is at 100°C, it will decompose and produce hydrogen chloride, which will also cause discolouration and its mechanical properties will be reduced as a result. The use temperature is generally between -15 degrees and 55 degrees. When using PVC materials, some stabilisers need to be added to them.
Applications: PVC is used in a wide range of applications, in construction materials, industrial products, daily necessities, floor tiles, artificial leather, floor leather, wires and cables, packaging films, plastic bottles, foaming materials, fibres, etc.
Properties of PVC
1、It has good airtightness and impermeability, and its strength is also relatively high.
2、Lightweight: PVC produces products such as pipes, which are relatively light in quality and easy to load and unload.
3, good insulation properties, PVC is often used in the production of wire and cable plastic cover.
4, does not affect the quality of water: the test verification, PVC pipe and fittings, will not affect the quality of water, is the best pipe for water piping.
5, good colouring, not only can show the natural colour, but also can produce charming and fantastical colour, rich product appearance.
EVA and PVC can be made shoe soles, as an example, to see what the difference is between the soles they produce.
1, EVA soles are lightweight, soft and comfortable, non-toxic and environmentally friendly materials, wear-resistant, moisture and odour resistant, but also has a shock-absorbing and heat-insulating effect, often used to do the midsole material of shoes. But EVA itself is more slippery, the production of shoes need to do anti-slip treatment.
2, PVC sole anti-slip effect is good, shoe quality is also very soft, not easy to get dust, but also easy to clean. It is cheap, malleable and has good colouring, and can be made in various colours.
In addition, PHYLON is also a popular material in shoe soles, it is a secondary foam midsole, the surface is white and wrinkled, its biggest feature is light, good elasticity, and good cushioning performance, so it is often used to make sports shoes. PHYLON has many advantages, but also has the disadvantage that it is not easy to degrade.
